Cavs Mid Season Review

Cavs

The Cavs big three along with their new trade acquisitions: JR Smith, Iman Shumpert, and Timofey Mosgov.

As the All Star Break approaches, the Cleveland Cavaliers have a disappointing record of 19-17, barely hanging on to the 5th seed in the East.  If they continue playing like they are now, they will be out of the playoffs in the first round, without a doubt. Kevin Love, although his stats are solid, looks completely out of each game. He also is a free agent after this year, and that scares me and a lot of fellow Cavs fans. The Cavs need to do ANYTHING they can to keep him in Cleveland. Love literally looks like he is pouting every single game, but I don’t blame him. Kyrie Irving is back to his non-passing ways, and thats bad when you are the point guard that has to get everyone else involved. To go along with all of this, LeBron James just doesn’t look like the same player. By slimming down in the off season, it seems he has also lost all of his explosiveness and power. But there is an upside to all of this. This week, the Cavs traded Dion Waiters and a few bench players to the Thunder for JR Smith and Iman Shumpert from the Knicks in a three team trade. I don’t understand why they would want JR Smith, but we’ll see how that goes. The next day, they traded two first round picks for Timofey Mosgov, a defensive big man that the Cavs have needed all year. Lets hope that these new acquisitions will give the Cavs a much needed push and will allow them to make a run when the playoffs come around. Although it doesn’t look good now, if the Big Three starts to gel and the new role players can make an impact, look out.
